Sacramento County D.A. on Bringing Down the Golden State Killer

Finally after decades of waiting, victims and families of victims of "Golden State Killer" Joseph DeAngelo felt some sense of closure. At a plea hearing in the ballroom of the Sacramento college he attended, DeAngelo plead guilty to thirteen counts of first-degree murder and admitted to multiple uncharged acts including rape.

DeAngelo, who was a former police officer, broke into to many of his victims' homes where he would tie men up, rape women, threaten to kill them, and steal things from them.

The stories told by victims and the handful of district attorneys at yesterday's hearing were very hard to stomach. DeAngelo was finally busted in 2018 thanks to advancements in DNA tracking.

Today we spoke to Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, who was critical in bringing the Golden State Killer's reign of terror to an end. His case is personal for her since she grew up in Sacramento in the 1970's when DeAngelo was committing his horrific crimes.
