NYPD Allegedly Plan Striking To Show What Life's Like 'Without Cops'

In the wake of widespread protests against police brutality, New York cops are reportedly planning to strike back with a protest of their own. Text messages intercepted by the New York Post reveal NYPD officers are planning a July 4th strike to protest the anti-police sentiment and recently proposed budget cuts.

One of the texts, which has been widely circulated throughout the department, reads, "NYPD cops will strike on July 4th to let the city have their independence without cops."

“The people and this city doesn't honor us why honor them,” another reads. “So it's easy to loot and riot without repercussions but it's not easy to do our job because the city will hang us.”

It also states that the alleged strike would begin at "1500 hours," or 3 p.m. on the 4th of July. In spite of the texts, a department spokeswoman says reports of a planned strike are completely false...

“New York City Police Officers will be here today, tomorrow, and on the 4th of July to protect all New Yorkers,” Sgt. Mary Frances O’Donnell, DCPI Spokesperson said. “To suggest otherwise is false.”
