LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Temperatures near the coast will be cooler today than on Wednesday, but in the valleys, the difference between today and Wednesday will not be as pronounced.
Thanks in part to a stronger sea breeze, coastal temperatures should run about 10 to 15 degrees lower than on Wednesday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Kristen Stewart. But on the whole, today's temperatures will be 8-12 degrees above normal, she said, with several valley locations remaining in the 90s.
The NWS forecast sunny skies in L.A. County today and highs of 79 in Avalon, on Mt. Wilson, and at LAX; 84 in Long Beach; 88 in Downtown L.A.; 91 in Burbank; 92 in San Gabriel; 93 in Pasadena and Saugus; 96 in Woodland Hills; 97 in Lancaster; and 98 in Palmdale. Today's high in downtown L.A., which
forecasters regard as part of the coastal zone, will be 8 degrees cooler than Wednesday, while Woodland Hills will be 4 degrees lower. Temperatures will decline Friday -- 10 degrees in several communities -- and slightly more over ensuing days, settling at a high of 79 in Downtown L.A. Wednesday and 85 in Woodland Hills.
Sunny skies were also forecast in Orange County today, along with highs 6-10 degrees lower than Wednesday, including 72 in Laguna Beach; 73 in San Clemente, 75 in Newport Beach and on Santiago Peak; 84 on Ortega Highway at 2,600 feet; 87 at Fremont Canyon; 88 at Trabuco Canyon; 90 in Fullerton and Irvine; 91 in Yorba Linda; 92 in Anaheim. A cooldown starts Friday.
