Peaceful protests in honor of George Floyd continued into Thursday across Southern California, with many showing up at Mayor Garcetti's house. But this morning, county officials announced that they have no plans to continue the curfew in Los Angeles.

However, they also noted that individual cities do have the authority to issue their own if warranted.

“Based upon current situational awareness and the recent pattern of peaceful actions by protesters, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will no longer enforce a curfew,” Villanueva wrote in a statement. “Other jurisdictions are free to make their own decisions.”

Beverly Hills originally had a curfew set for Thursday night, but just after noon the city announced on Twitter that it was canceled.

"The protests in our City have remained peaceful over the last several days. We thank our residents & business community for their patience & cooperation as we work to keep our community safe," Mayor Friedman said.

The cities of Burbank, West Hollywood, and Santa Monica all announced they will follow whatever curfew the county of Los Angeles has in place. Which right now, means none...

However, Santa Clarita officials did order a curfew for Thursday. That curfew will last from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.

“The curfews’ extraordinary suppression of all political protest in the evening hours plainly violates the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and their blanket restrictions on movement outside working hours violate the Constitution’s protection of freedom of movement,” the ACLU said in a response statement.
