SANTA ANA (CNS) - Orange County officials have reported 213 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total to 6,474, but the death toll remained unchanged at 147.
The Orange County Health Care Agency reported Monday that 240 people are hospitalized with the coronavirus, with the number of patients in intensive care rising from 92 to 97.
The number of people tested stands at 132,075, with 2,632 having recovered.
Santa Ana leads all Orange County cities with 1,246 cases, followed closely by Anaheim with 1,099. Many of the cases in both cities are tied to long-term nursing care facilities.
Countywide, Health Care Agency officials say 61 of the region's fatalities involved skilled nursing home facility residents.
As of Friday, 6,788 residents of congregant-living facilities were stricken with the virus and 376 workers had contracted COVID-19, according to the Health Care Agency.
Men account for 52% of all the county's COVID-19 cases overall, and 59% of the deaths.
On Thursday, the county's health officer, Dr. Nichole Quick, issued a modified health order that reflects the state's reopening of hair and beauty salons, as well as churches. Quick did not revise her order requiring masks whenever people cannot observe 6 feet of physical distance from others.
“The most common sense way of explaining it to Orange County residents is if you are out of your home interacting with people at your business, workplace or any public space and you cannot maintain 6 feet of social distancing, the order requires you to put on a mask,'' county CEO Frank Kim said Thursday.
