We finally have a good report to share regarding coronavirus cases in Southern California.
Two researchers from UC Irvine believe that the decline of COVID-19 cases in Orange County has lowered drastically in the last month, meaning that the county is no longer to match the same disease rate that Italy did.
Dominik Wodarz and Natalia Komarova both believe that the number of known cases that have been reported suggest that the stay-at-home orders and social distancing is helping flatten the curve not only in Orange County but also throughout Southern California.
“We are doing better than we were before,” said Komarova.
In March when coronavirus was starting to pick up around California, Wodarz and Komarove released a report that Orange County was like to match the numbers in Italy if things didn't change soon.
Now a month after their report was released, the new data says that ever since their orders were put into place; it has dramatically lowered the pace.
Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties are also among Orange County's good news too.
“We hope it’s going to continue on that trajectory and get better,” Wodarz said.
So continue to stay home, wash your hands, and stay safe.
