Teen Killed, Two Men and One Woman Injured in 110 Freeway Crash

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A four-vehicle crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway caused the death of a 16-year-old boy and injured two men and a woman, authorities said today.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. Sunday on the southbound Harbor Freeway south of Wilshire Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol Officer S. Brown.

A 2000 Nissan Quest was in the number 4 lane and a 2006 Hyundai Azera, 2009 Nissan Versa and a 2012 Ford Edge were in the number 5 lane when the driver of the Edge “made an unsafe turning movement “ and lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the right concrete wall, Brown said.

The Edge then collided with the Hyundai and set off a chain reaction involving the other two cars, the officer said.

The 59-year-old man at the wheel of the Versa suffered minor injuries as did the 18-year-old driver of the Edge and his 18-year-old female passenger. But the 16- year-old boy riding in the Edge suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said. The boy's name was not released pending famly notification.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to have been factors in the crash, the officer said.
