CDC Considers Recommending Everyone Wear Face Coverings in Public

The CDC is allegedly considering recommending that everyone in the general public wear face coverings while out during the Coronavirus outbreak. A Federal official anonymously told the Washington Post that the CDC may recommend that we all do this very soon... However, not the medical kind of masks that are so hard to come by in the country right now; rather DIY, cloth masks.

During the daily White House briefing on Monday, President Trump was asked if he believed everyone should be wearing fabric face masks. “That’s certainly something we could discuss,” he said, adding, “it could be something like that for a limited period of time.”

The CDC is still reviewing this recommendation because they do not want the public to have a false sense of security, and therefore not adhere to social distancing rules.

According to Thomas Inglesby, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, he believes everyone should be covering their faces with nonmedical masks.

“I think it would be a prudent step we can all take to reduce transmission,” Inglesby said.
