Average Southland Gas Prices Drop To Lowest Amounts Since Last March

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today to its lowest amount since March 21, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.479.

The average price has dropped 10 consecutive days and 13 of the past 14, decreasing 8.8 cents, including 1.6 cents on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 6.4 cents less than week ago and 8.9 cents lower than one month ago but 11.9 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped 13.6 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price also dropped to its lowest amount since March 21, decreasing 1.7 cents to $3.433. It has dropped 15 consecutive days, decreasing 8.6 cents, including 1.8 cents on Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 6.6 cents less than one week ago and 7.8 cents lower than one month ago but 11.6 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped 11.2 cents since the start of the year.

Analysts have attributed the dropping prices to reduced demand and falling oil prices, both the result of the spread of the coronavirus.
