'Onward' Captures Top Spot at Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Disney/Pixar release “Onward” is the number one film at the box office this weekend, opening with $40 million, according to industry estimates released today.

Last week's top grosser, “The Invisible Man,” was second with $15.1 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

“The Way Back” starring Ben Affleck opened in third place with $8.5 million, followed by “Sonic The Hedgehog” with $8 million and “The Call of the Wild” with $7 million.

Rounding out the 10 top-grossing films of the weekend, as estimated be Comscore, are “Emma” ($5 million), “Bad Boys For Life” ($3 million), “Birds of Prey” ($2.1 million), “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” ($1.8 million) and “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” ($1.5 million).
