Four Burglary Suspects Arrested by Burbank Police After Freeway Chase

BURBANK (CNS) - Four men from Northern California were in custody today for allegedly burglarizing a residence in Burbank and then leading authorities on a car chase.

Officers sent to the 800 block of Stephen Road about 7 p.m Thursday regarding a possible burglary saw a man run from a home and jump into a black Ford Fusion that sped away, police said. Three other people also were in the car, police said.

“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled, leading police on a pursuit,” said Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green.

“The vehicle committed numerous traffic violations and reached high speeds as it continued through Burbank before entering the Ventura (134) Freeway and ultimately, the Interstate 5 Freeway,” Green said. “As police pursued the vehicle, the occupants were seen throwing items out of the car's windows, believed to be property stolen in the burglary.”

Police chased the car on the northbound 5 Freeway through the Santa Clarita area, assisted by California Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, Green said.

“Just before 8:30 p.m., the pursuit came to an end on the Interstate 5 Freeway south of Vista Del Lago Road, near Pyramid Lake,” Green said. “All four suspects were taken into custody.”

The men were identified as Demaria Adger, 24, Quazaye Waugh, 22, and Dominique Williams, 24, all of Oakland; and Marcus Samuels, 19, of Antioch. Each man was booked on suspicion of residential burglary and held on $100,000 bail.

The items they discarded were found by Burbank police officers, who determined the property belonged to the burglary victims, Green said.
