LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was at its highest amount to start a year since 2014 today despite dropping 56 times in 57 days.
The average price decreased two-tenths of a cent Wednesday to $3.613, its lowest amount since Aug. 30, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.1 cents less than one week ago and 22.7 cents lower than one month ago but 23 cents more than one year ago.
The average price has dropped 51.6 cents over the past 57 days, including four-tenths of a cent Tuesday. It decreased for 53 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent on Sunday, then resumed dropping on Monday.
The Orange County average price was also at its highest amount to start a year since 2014, $3.539, despite dropping 55 times in 58 days, including six-tenths of a cent on Wednesday. It is 1.2 cents less than one week ago and 23.5 cents lower than one month ago but 19.8 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped 54.9 cents over the past 58 days, including three-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, to its lowest amount since Aug. 26. It decreased for 53 consecutive days, was unchanged Saturday, rose one-tenth of a cent Sunday and two-tenths of a cent on Monday.
