`Jumanji' Levels Up To Dominate North American Theaters

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The comic adventure sequel ``Jumanji: The Next Level'' dominated theaters in its debut weekend, collecting $59.2 million to top the box office, according to final figures released today.

``Jumanji,'' starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, took over the North American box office lead from Disney's animated powerhouse ``Frozen 2,'' which earned $19.1 million over the weekend, according to Comscore. ``Frozen 2'' has earned more than $366.4 million domestically in four weeks of release.

The murder-mystery caper film ``Knives Out'' took third place over the weekend by earning $9.1 million between Friday and Sunday. Clint Eastwood's ``Richard Jewell'' opened in fourth place with $4.7 million, followed by the horror-thriller ``Black Christmas,'' which debuted with $4.2 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were ``Ford v. Ferrari'' ($4.1 million); ``Queen & Slim'' ($3.6 million); ``A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood'' ($3.3 million); ``Dark Waters'' ($1.9 million); and ``21 Bridges'' ($1.2 million).
