LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 14th consecutive day, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.977, its lowest amount since Sept. 27.
The average price has dropped 15.2 cents over the past 14 days, including six-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 9.4 cents less than one week ago and 21.2 cents lower than a month ago but 30.6 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 15th consecutive day, decreasing 1.6 cents to $3.922, its lowest amount since Sept. 26. It has dropped 16.6 cents over the past 15 days, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday.
The Orange County average price is 9.7 cents less than a week ago and 23.1 cents lower than one month ago but 30.7 cents more than a year ago.
The declining prices are customary for this time of year because demand is at its lowest and the winter-blend gasoline being sold at stations costs less to produce than the summer blend because its additives are cheaper, according to Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California.
