Charleston's new-ish magic and comedy theater, Holy City Magic, has been open on King Street since August. We're here to let you know everything there is about this new downtown entertainment, and why you should catch a show soon. 🐇 About Holy City Magic
Proud owner and Charleston magician for many years, Howard Blackwell, finally fulfilled his longtime dream of opening his own magic parlor. Howard continues to practice magic tricks and illusions at his parlor, along with other world-renowned magicians. Keep reading to see upcoming shows and magicians visiting Holy City Magic.
🐇 What to Expect
This unique night out experience begins at 7:30PM (usually), but doors open at 6:30PM for some pre-magic tricks at the bar. Get there early for the speak-easy style bar, but also because general admission seats are assigned on a first-come basis. During the show, you can expect card tricks, illusions, mind tricks, escapes, and of course, a little comedy. Make the most of your experience and volunteer to take part in the magic - audience members are encouraged to participate.
🐇 The Venue and Location
Holy City Magic is located in an intimate theater that seats 46 guests on Upper King. It is located at 49 1/2 John Street, right above Paolos, on the corner of John Street and King Street. The theater used to serve as an old slave quarters, and is on the second floor of a 200 year old building. The bar is available in the lounge area serving beer, wine, and magic.
🐇 Holy City Magic Shows, Tickets, and Private Events
General tickets for shows typically cost $25, but for $30 you can get front row seats. Shows are known to sell out, so don't wait too long and get your tickets in advance. Military, college, and magic association discounts are offered. Holy City Magic even offers several packages for private events, entertainment, and venue rental. Learn more about those here.
