LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 3.4 cents today to $3.836, the ninth consecutive increase.
The average price has risen 16.4 cents over the past nine days, including three-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 7.8 cents more than one week ago, 26.3 cents higher than one month ago and 11.4 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 44.5 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose 5 cents to $3.804, one day after remaining unchanged. It has risen 16.8 cents since Sept. 17, including 7.5 cents last Wednesday, its largest increase since July 14, 2015.
The Orange County average price is 7.7 cents more than one week ago, 25.8 cents higher than one month ago and 12.9 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 45.5 cents since the start of the year.
The rising prices are the result of increasing oil costs caused by the attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities and a decrease in the gasoline supply, according to Jeanette Casselano, the AAA's director of public relations.
