On August 8, 1969, Charles Manson sent a handful of his followers out to the hilltop house of actress Sharon Tate with the goal to kill everyone there. What happened was terrifying and brutal. Tate, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant, and her friends were bludgeoned, shot, and stabbed numerous times.
The killers then used their blood to scrawl "Pigs" and "Helter Skelter" on the walls. The next night, Manson took his followers to the home of wealthy grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary. They were tied up and butchered with knives.
The murders are probably the most infamous in recent history.
