LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose three-tenths of a cent today to $3.573, the third slight increase in five days following a 24-day streak of dropping prices.
The streak ended Sunday with an increase of one-tenth of a cent. It dropped two-tenths of a cent Monday and three-tenths of a cent Tuesday to its lowest amount since March 25, then rose two-tenths of a cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is a half-cent less than one week ago, 13 cents lower than one month ago and 6.1 cents below what it was one year ago. It has risen 18.1 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price was unchanged for the second consecutive day, remaining at $3.549. It is seven-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 12.5 cents lower than one month ago and 2.4 cents below what it was one year ago but has risen 20 cents since the start of the year.
“Prices have stabilized,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
