Wow. What a sad turn of events.
A mother and her 2-year-old son were at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta when things a whirlwind of events took the mother on for a bumpy ride.
Edith Vega was printing her boarding pass for her upcoming and briefly set her son Lorenzo down. During this time, Lorenzo managed to get out of mother's view and jumped onto a conveyor belt.
Unfortunately, he was unable to be saved before he fell through a luggage chute into a baggage room.
An Atlanta police report confirms that a TSA worker immediately informed authorities after finding the young boy with a broken right hand.
Spirit Airlines says they will be working with TSA and airport officials to ensure that this does not happen again.
Fortunately, according to Lorenzo's mother, the young boy will be just fine.
