Southland Gas Prices Continue Falling

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped eight-tenths of a cent today to $3.712, the 12th consecutive decrease and 19th in 20 days.

The average price has dropped 9.7 cents over the past 20 days, including a half-cent on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.8 cents less than one week ago and 1.6 cents lower than one month ago, but 7.3 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.682, the 19th decrease in 21 days. It has dropped 7.7 cents over the past 21 days, including six-tenths of a cent Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago, 1 cent more than one month ago, and 10.1 cents higher than one year ago.

The dropping prices are the result of ample supply and decreasing oil prices, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
