PASADENA (CNS) - A 4.0-magnitude aftershock to the 7.1 earthquake of July 5 struck the Ridgecrest area this morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at 1:38 a.m. at a depth of .6 mile 31.5 miles north- northwest of Ridgecrest in Kern County, according to a computer report.
It was followed by a 3.0 magnitude temblor, also at a depth of .6 mile and in the same area, at 5:25 a.m.
