Since our downward dog mayor, Eric Garcetti, refuses to do much about the situation, residents have taken matters into their own hands. To combat the overwhelming amount of grocery carts, tents, and other makeshift home items lining the streets, residents are filling those spaces with fences and planter boxes.
49-year-old, Peter Mozgo, has now lined the streets with 140 firetruck red planter boxes. He purchases them from a Bell Gardens Company and pays $120 per cubic yard for dirt. Mozgo is a downtown Los Angeles resident and every morning he'll examine the streets determining, "How many tents do we have today? And who came in? And who moved out? And who flipped my boxes? And who graffiti-ed the front of my work?”
Sounds like a good temporary fix.
