Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Hollyhock House is going to become Los Angeles' first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The head of cultural affairs for Los Angeles, Danielle Brazell, says, "It's a phenomenal moment for L.A. We now have a World Heritage Site in the middle of our city. It's the highest recognition by an international body to acknowledge that Hollyhock House has universal value. There is no greater honor for a cultural site in the world".

The house was built between 1918 and 1921 and was almost torn down during the 40s.

It is called the Hollyhock House because of the motifs that feature the hollyhock flower.
