LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the 28th consecutive day today, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.917, its lowest amount since April 9.
The average price has decreased 20.3 cents over the past 28 days, including six-tenths of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.7 cents less than one week ago and 20.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 15.7 cents higher than one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 27th time in the past 28 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.889, its lowest amount since April 9. It has decreased 20.7 cents over the past 28 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Monday.
The Orange County average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago and 20.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 16.9 cents higher than one year ago.
“Conditions continue to be favorable for gas price drops,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service. “Wholesale Los Angeles gas prices have dropped by about 80 cents from their 2019 peak price of $2.68 reached on April 10, but the Los Angeles average price for regular unleaded has only dropped by 20 cents, leaving a lot of room for prices to decline more steeply.
“Local refineries are generally operating at their capacity and so far in the last few weeks there have been no new supply challenges.”
