LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Britney Spears addressed a judge in closed session today on issues regarding her conservatorship, which was established over the pop star in 2008.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda J. Penny granted a request by the 37-year-old singer's lawyer, Samuel Ingham III, to close the courtroom to the public. Ingham said the singer would be taking about matters involving her medical care, her children and confidential business information.
Lawyers for Spears' mother, Lynne Spears, also were present.
The singer was accompanied to court by two bodyguards. She entered and left the courtroom through back hallways.
Ingham declined to comment after the court session, which lasted about 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, outside the County Courthouse, a group of fans gathered with signs asking that Spears' conservatorship be ended.
Spears has been under a conservatorship since 2008, when she began exhibiting bizarre behavior, such as shaving her head bald.
She was released about a week ago from a Los Angeles facility where she received treatment for undisclosed mental health issues.
