Earthquake Shakes Parts of Orange County

Authorities say a small 3.5 magnitude earthquake rocked parts of Orange County this morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck the area around 5:05 a.m. and was located about 5-miles east-southeast of Yorba Linda. The quake was shallow, at a depth of less than two miles.

The quake comes one day after an article in the Los Angeles Times noted that California has been in an earthquake drought after five years without a quake that measured magnitude 6 or greater and nearly nine years since a large quake hit southern California.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
