These two geniuses pictured above almost landed themselves a spot in the Darwin Awards hall of fame on Monday.
Charles Eugene Ferris, 50 and Christopher Hicks, 36, were arrested April 1 in connection with an aggravated assault. The two intelligent men reportedly took turns shooting one another while wearing a bullet-resistant vest the night before.
The pair were released on a $5,000 bond and issued a no-contact order from the Benton County Jail on Tuesday, April 2.
According to Arkansas news KARK, a Benton County sheriff drove to Mercy Hospital Sunday night to investigate a man who had been shot "multiple times while wearing a bullet-proof vest."
The sheriff interviewed Ferris, who had a red spot on his chest and proceeded to try and cover up the truth by telling an elaborate story. Ferris told police he changed his story about the incident because he did not want to get Hicks in trouble.
The real story goes, Hicks and Ferris were drinking in the backyard when Ferris asked Hicks to shoot him with the vest on.
An intoxicated Hicks obliges and shoots Ferris with a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
Alcohol and guns are never a good mix.
