Senator Kamala Harris has publicly spoken about her endorsement for ending private health insurance in favor of a "Medicare for all" government plan.
However, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has intercepted her arguments saying, the proposal would "bankrupt us for a very long time."
“I think you could never afford that. You’re talking about trillions of dollars,” Mr. Bloomberg said during a political swing in New Hampshire, The New York Times reports.
“I think you can have ‘Medicare for all’ for people that are uncovered,” he added, “but to replace the entire private system where companies provide health care for their employees would bankrupt us for a very long time."
Harris told a crowd at a CNN town-hall event on Monday, "We have to appreciate and understand that access to health care, it should not be thought of as a privilege. It should be understood to be right."
Bloomberg, who is a potential rival of Harris for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, is just one example of the divide within the Democratic Party over expensive left-wing policies.
