LOS ANGELES (CNS) - High winds once again will sweep the Southland this morning.
A wind advisory denoting winds or gusts of 35 miles per hour will be in effect until noon in the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains, the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, the L.A. County Coast, metropolitan Los Angeles, Downtown L.A. and the Hollywood Hills.
“Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” warned an NWS statement. “When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds.”
NWS forecasters said driving would be especially challenging on Interstates 5 and 210 and the 14, 23, 101, 118 and 126 freeways.
The NWS forecast north-to-northeast winds of 20-30 miles per hour with 50-mph gusts in the San Gabriels; north-to-northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts of between 40 and 50 mph in the Santa Monicas and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys; and winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 40 mph in the L.A. County so-called coastal area between Malibu and the Hollywood Hills.
No wind advisory was in force in the Antelope and San Gabriel valleys.
Off the coast, a small craft advisory denoting hazardous conditions at sea for small vessels will be in effect until 9 a.m.
Amid sunny skes, today's highs in L.A. and Orange counties generally will range from the high 60s to the high 70s, although some communities will be cooler than that.
