Despite the federal government still being shutdown, the Department of Public Social Services says they will be issuing their February food stamps early, according to CBS Los Angeles.
LA County, rejoice!!! You're still getting your food stamps. We couldn't imagine the horror of not.
The DPSS says they will be issuing February's Calfresh benefit distribution to eligible households starting this Wednesday. This is to ensure that LA County's most vulnerable residents will still be receiving their benefits without any interruptions.
But let's be clear, this isn't any additional benefits. Don't get too excited. The agency was clear that this early distribution is just an early insurance.
So, don't get stupid and spend all your precious food stamps all at once. They still have to last the whole month of February.
“Households are urged to budget their benefits accordingly to ensure that they have funds available to purchase food in the month of February,” DPSS officials said in a statement.
