LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two Los Angeles police officers suffered non-life- threatening injuries today when their squad car collided with another vehicle and then struck a parked car, authorities said.
It happened at 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of 62nd Street and Vermont Avenue, Lt. Ted Urena of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station said.
“The officers were from 77th Division answering a call for backup from officers in another division when the crash happened,” Urena said, adding that the Southeast Station officers calling for support were engaged in a foot pursuit.
After the crash with the moving car, the police car veered off and struck a parked car, the lieutenant said.
The officers were taken to a hospital where their vital signs were stable, Urena said.
A person in the first car complained of pain but refused medical treatment, he said.
The crash was under investigation, Urena said.
