Fake Pastor Arrested for Smuggling Drugs to Prisoners in Bibles

A man claiming to want to spread the word of God to inmates at a North Carolina jail ended up staying there after police took an interest in the Bibles he was delivering.

James A. Morman III, who identified himself as a pastor, showed up at the Scotland County lockup earlier this week with a stack of Bibles.

He said he was there to visit Bryson Brown and give the Bibles to other inmates.

When an alert guard examined the gifts, however, he found they contained Suboxone Strips -- a prescription drug used to treat opioid addiction.

A subsequent background check on the 28-year-old revealed he wasn't even a pastor!

Morman and Brown have since been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance within a prison, felony delivery of a controlled substance to an inmate and misdemeanor possession.
