Road Closures and Restrictions for 76th annual Golden Globe Awards Jan. 6

BEVERLY HILLS (CNS) - With the 76th annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton set for Jan. 6, Beverly Hills police have announced road closures and parking restrictions set to take effect in the days before. 

Westbound Santa Monica Boulevard from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday, January 7, police said. Eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4  until 4 a.m. Monday. Police will close westbound Wilshire Boulevard at South Santa Monica Boulevard from 7 a.m. Sunday, January 6 to 4 a.m. Monday, January 7. Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be open to residents only in the 10200-10300 blocks and Los Angeles Country Club visitors from 7 a.m. Sunday, January 6 to 4 a.m. Monday, January 7. Wilshire Boulevard Blvd will be completely closed to all other through traffic between the Country Club and South Santa Monica Boulevard, police said. 

Other local streets will be closed to all but local residents from 7 a.m. January 6 until 1 a.m. January 7. They include: Whittier Drive from Wilshire to Sunset boulevards; Trenton Drive from Wilshire Boulevard to Whittier Drive; Carmelita/Elvado/Lomitas Avenue at Walden Drive; and Greenway from Sunset Boulevard to Whittier Drive. Parking will be restricted to all vehicles from 6 a.m. January 6 to midnight January 7,  on Whittier Drive between Wilshire and Sunset boulevards and Greenway Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Whittier Drive. 

Parking will be restricted to residents with permits or exemptions from 6 a.m  January 6 to midnight January 7 on Carmelita Avenue from Wilshire Boulevard to Walden Drive' Lomitas Avenue from Whittler Drive to Walden Drive; Elevado Avenue between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive; Trenton Drive between Whittier Drive and Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive between Santa Monica Boulevard and Whittier Drive.

The traffic and parking restrictions were part of the Beverly Hills police department's security measures, ``utilizing the latest technology and best practices for high profile events,'' police said.
