LAUSD Teachers Set Possible Strike Date

Los Angeles public teachers have had enough with the school district, announcing their strike date if they fail to get what they want.

“We’re not going to go back to the table. “We’ve reached the point where enough is enough,” Alex Caputo-Pearl, president of United Teachers Los Angeles said Wednesday at a UTLA news conference.

For the last couple years, the two sides have been trying to resolve differences over salary, class size, and other issues.

The union’s announcement on Wednesday came after the district reported that that "the State of California Public Employment Relations Board issued a complaint against UTLA for refusing to bargain in good faith."

The complaint emerged one day after the release of a fact-finding report that recommended adoption of the 6 percent salary increase.

LAUSD is the nation's second largest school district and teachers have not held a strike since 1989.
