Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing At Doheny State Beach

DANA POINT (CNS) - A single-engine Cessna airplane with two people on board made an emergency landing on Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, authorities said.

The landing was reported at 2:13 p.m. Saturday on the 25000 block of Dana Point Harbor Drive north of Capistrano Beach, Capt. Tony Bommarito of the Orange County Fire Authority said.

The plane had taken off from John Wayne Airport for what was expected to be an hour-long flight.

“There was a loss of power,” Bommarito said.

The 63-year-old man piloting the plane and the 25-year-old man in the passenger seat were not injured, nor was anyone on the ground, he said.
