LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 53-day streak of dropping prices ended today when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County remained unchanged at $3.422.
The average price dropped 45.5 cents during the streak, including one-tenth of a cent on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5.5 cents less than one week ago and 26 cents lower than one month ago, but 30.3 cents more than one year ago. It has risen 27.2 cents since the start of the year.
The streak of decreases was the longest since a 92-day run from Oct. 2, 2014-Jan. 1, 2015.
The Orange County average price rose for the second straight day after 23 consecutive decreases, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.376.
It is 4.4 cents less than one week ago and 24.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 31.6 cents more than one year ago. It has risen 25.7 cents since the start of the year.
