LOS ANGELES (CNS) - An aspiring actress filed court papers today seeking a domestic violence restraining order against attorney Michael Avenatti, according to an online report.
Avenatti, who was arrested last week on suspicion of felony domestic violence, vehemently denied the allegation after he was released on bail. When the online report surfaced Monday about the restraining order request, Avenatti took to Twitter to again deny wrongdoing.
“I look forward to a full clearing of my name and disclosure of all of the facts,” he wrote. “I have NEVER abused a woman or committed domestic violence against anyone. Any claim to the contrary is completely bogus and fabricated. And I will be exonerated.”
According to the website Blast, the request for a restraining order was filed by actress Mareli Miniutti, who had an uncredited appearance in the film “Ocean's Eight.” A hearing on the request was scheduled for next month, according to the website.
No details of the request were released.
Avenatti, 47, best known for representing adult-film actress Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Donald Trump, was arrested last Wednesday. Police said he was booked on suspicion of felony domestic violence and released on $50,000 bail.
Daniels claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006 and signed a non-disclosure agreement just before the 2016 presidential election. She is suing to negate the agreement, even though she has publicly discussed the alleged affair extensively. Trump has denied the affair.
