R. Lee "The Gunny" Ermey finally has his street.
Although many people just know Ermey as the Marine Corps drill instructor from "Full Metal Jacket," Ermey was an actual Marine drill instructor and military ambassador.
The actor lived in the Antelope Valley for years, and yesterday he was honored with a ceremony in Palmdale that renamed a portion of Avenue N at Sierra Highway "R Lee Ermey Ave."
A group is attempting to raise $150,000 to purchase more R Lee Ermey Ave. street signs and to turn the road into a musical road that would play the first verse of the Marine Hymn over a half mile stretch of the road.
Bryan Suits was at the ceremony.
