FBI officials confirmed Friday that another suspicious package addressed to California billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer has been intercepted at a Burlingame mailing facility.
FBI bomb technicians examined the package and determined it was safe.
The latest discovery comes a week after two other similar packages were sent to California Senator Kamala Harris and Steyer from mail bomb suspect Cesar Sayoc. The FBI has not confirmed whether the new package is linked to Sayoc, even if it is similar in appearance to the packages discovered last week.
Sayoc was sent to New York City on Friday by a federal magistrate in Miami following a bond hearing.
The 56-year-old aspiring bodybuilder and avid Trump supporter is expected to stand trial on five federal crimes including; interstate transportation of an explosive, illegal mailing of an explosive, threats against former Presidents and other persons, threatening interstate communications, and assaulting current and former federal officers. If convicted, he could face up to fifty years in federal prison.
