LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped four-tenths of a cent today for the second consecutive day.
The average price of $3.868 is three-tenths of a cent less than one week ago but 14.5 cents more than one month ago and 80.8 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, It has risen 71.8 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped four-tenths of a cent today to $3.816, one day decreasing three-tenths of a cent. It is one-tenth of a cent less than one week ago but 14.2 cents more than one month ago and 78.5 cents higher than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen 70 cents since the start of the year.
“Wholesale gasoline prices plunged this week, partly because oil prices dropped and partly because of the lower-cost `winter blend' gasoline that refineries are now producing,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. “Winter blend gasoline will be sold at Southern California gas stations starting Nov. 1, so that should lower gas prices significantly barring any supply disruptions.”
