Kavanaugh Tells Friends to 'Warn Neighbors' in Letter from 1983

In a 1983 copy letter obtained by the New York TimesJudge Brett Kavanaugh tells his friends to 'warn the neighbors' that the group of friends are "loud, obnoxious drunks with prolific pukers among us." The newly released letter could hurt Kavanaugh when it comes to claims that he was an avid drinker back in the day, which he has denied.

Kavanaugh wrote the letter to his friends regarding a weekend escapade they would soon have at a beachfront condo.

A couple of the men present during that weekend still keep in touch with Kavanaugh and have now found themselves submerged in the controversy surrounding the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh just before his Supreme Court Justice confirmation.

Classmates from Georgetown Prep have defended Judge Kavanaugh, although admitting that they witnessed him and his friends partake in binge-drinking rituals many weekends. Some of those classmates and 150 other alumni signed a letter back in July, endorsing Kavanaugh for Supreme Court.

“This is a note I wrote to organize ‘Beach Week’ in the summer of 1983,” Kavanaugh said through his lawyers about the letter.

He declined to comment to the New York Times
