Consuming High Levels of Dairy and Red Meat Could Help You Live Longer

Behold! A positive report on meat and dairy eating. Turns out it's good for you?

Researchers at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, found that people who eat higher levels of red meat and cheese are more likely to live longer.

According to the research, people who had three portions of dairy and 120 grams of unprocessed red meat per day benefited the most health-wise. Those that ate a beautiful abundance of meat and dairy saw their chances of early death fall by 25 percent and their chances of a fatal heart attack decreased by 22 percent.

In their methodology, the researchers made sure to account for differences in wealth and education, as well as other health habits.

“Our findings on full-fat dairy and unprocessed red meat do challenge conventional thinking,” McMaster professor of nutrition and epidemiology Andrew Mente said at the European Society of Cardiology conference in Munich, Germany.

A teacher of cardiovascular disease at the McMaster Medical School, Dr. Salim Yusuf, also expressed how these findings definitely "differ from current dietary advice."

The researchers also listed white meats like chicken and turkey as also carrying similar benefits. They concluded with a healthy diet includes more than eight daily portions of fruit and vegetables and half-portions of nuts and beans.
