The average price is eight-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 1.5 cents less than one month ago, and 61.1 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen 47.3 cents since the start of the year.

“Southern California gas prices are remarkably stable this year, staying within a range of 15-20 cents since mid-April,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“Unfortunately, these stable prices are at much higher levels than in the previous couple of years. The average gas price paid by motorists in Los Angeles was $2.79 in 2016 and $3.04 in 2017. This year to date, the average Los Angeles regular unleaded price is $3.57.”
