CULVER CITY (CNS) - Police shot and wounded a knife-wielding man today in Culver City, authorities said.
The officer-involved shooting was reported at 1:47 p.m. in the 4100 block of Mentone Avenue, Deputy Marvin Crowder of the sheriff's Information Bureau said.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital, the coroner's office confirmed.
Witnesses told reporters at the scene the man stabbed his sister repeatedly with a butcher knife in the face, neck and arms and that she ran down the street bloodied and crying for help before officers arrived. She was expected to survive, reporters said.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were on the scene, assisting with the shooting investigation, he said.
