STEVENSON RANCH (CNS) - A brush fire in the hills above Stevenson Ranch was 80 percent contained today after blackening 128 acres.
The three-alarm fire erupted for unknown reasons shortly after 1 p.m. Monday near the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Air crews were sent along with ground crews to battle the flames. No structures were threatened, but some workers at an oil field in the area were evacuated.
By late Monday, the fire was 50 percent contained, and the containment figure was raised to 80 percent by late this morning.
Three firefighters suffered minor heat-related injuries battling the flames, according to the fire department. The temperature in the area was reported at 106 degrees when the fire broke out.
