POMONA (CNS) - A brush fire that broke out this afternoon in Pomona charred at least 20 acres of grass, but crews appeared to be getting the upper hand. The second-alarm blaze ignited near North Fairplex Drive and the San Bernardino (10) Freeway for unknown reasons about 2:20 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The department dispatched one water-dropping helicopter and a dozen engines to the scene, a dispatcher said.
No structures were immediately threatened and no injuries were reported.
