LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Fans will have the opportunity to play catch in 15- minute intervals on the field at Dodger Stadium following today's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants for Father's Day.
As it has since 1996, Major League Baseball will use Father's Day to raise awareness about prostate cancer and raise funds for research to fight the disease.
Players will wear specially-designed caps for the third consecutive year. The caps are light blue -- the official color for prostate cancer awareness -- with a team color brim.
The players and all other on-field personnel will wear the symbolic blue ribbon on their uniforms. Players will wear blue wristbands.
Players will also have the option to wear multi-pattern blue-dyed socks as well as a lightweight, hooded fleece with the MLB-silhouetted-batter- stamped prostate cancer awareness ribbon during batting practice and on the bench.
Players can also wear light blue compression sleeves, batting gloves, footwear, wrist/elbow/leg guards and catcher's equipment.
Royalties for the sales of Father's Day caps and other apparel will be donated by Major League Baseball to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Stand Up to Cancer, an effort to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly.
Commemorative base jewels and dugout lineup cards will also be blue.
The first pitch will be thrown by Michael Milken, the one-time junk bond king who is the founder and chairman of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
