A man who wants to be California's treasurer is literally "running" for office. Vivek Viswanathan was set to run 18 miles today, from Camp Pendleton to Solano Beach. It's part of a series of runs from Sacramento to the border with Mexico that have already taken him through the Central Valley and Los Angeles and Riverside counties.
The tactic has worked before for candidates in Florida and Illinois, but was unsuccessful the last time it was tried in California in 1974.
