Body Found in Mountains; Unclear If Linked To Home Where Blood Was Found

AZUSA (CNS) - A body was found today in the San Gabriel Mountains and detectives were investigating to determine if it is that of a resident missing from a home near Azusa where a large amount of blood was found.

The body was found about 6 p.m. along San Gabriel Canyon Road, also called state Route 39, just south of East Fork Road near the San Gabriel Reservoir, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff's and fire departments.

Detectives had been working to determine the source of a large amount of blood found on the floor of a home in the 6100 block of Goodway Drive in an unincorporated area near Azusa. Deputies from the sheriff's San Dimas Station went to the home about 10:15 p.m. Monday in response to a disturbance call, said sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.

Deputies entered the home and spotted blood on the floor but did not find anyone inside, Alfred said. Homicide detectives were called in, but it wasn't clear if a crime occurred, Alfred said.

Detectives were looking for at least one resident of the home but did not release the person's name, according to Alfred.
