35 Structures, 24 Homes Destroyed By Kilauea Volcano

Seismologist and UCLA Professor Dr. John Vidale will be joining the Tim Conway, Jr. show to discuss the latest updates at Kilauea.

Recent reports are that over 1,700 people have been evacuated, 35 building structures destroyed, including 24 homes.

Original Story Below

Nearly 1,500 Hawaiian residents have evacuated their homes as the main island's Kilauea volcano continues to erupt.

The most recent eruption Friday morning blasted lava more than 100 feet into the air, causing two houses to catch fire.

Officials are warning residents to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice, both due to lava and the extremely high levels of sulfur dioxide gas spilling into the atmosphere.

Geologists warned of a possible Kilauea eruption after detecting hundreds of earthquakes earlier this week.

Three eruptions have happened so far, and experts say more lava outbreaks are possible.

In what's proving to be a major side-effect, several large earthquakes have been detected along with the potentially impending eruption.

The latest, and unfortunately greatest instance was a 6.9 shaker which hit the big island earlier today.

Dr. John Vidale, professor at USC and renowned seismic expert joined the Conway Show to discuss the effects of Hawaii's erupting volcano and the recent (but massive) uptick in quake activity.
